Additionally it has 10 times the Iron, 3 times the niacin, 2 times the riboflavin and 50% more phosphorous than oranges. Camu Camu is also rich in beta-carotens, calcium, leucine, protein, serine, thiamin and valine.

Dr. Tim Hollingshead with Dr. Tim’s Exotic Juices talks about Camu Camu on Studio.

Camu camu contains several antidepressant compounds and inflammation-fighting nutrients such as ellagic acid, calcium, thiamin, and phosphorus that protect brain function, helping your body maintain high levels of mood-boosting chemicals, says James Duke, a former botanist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and author of Green Pharmacy Guide to Healing Foods (Rodale, 2009).

HEART CARE: In a study published in the Journal of Cardiology last year, researchers at a Japanese university found that camu camu’s multiple heart-protective anti-inflammatories and antioxidants were more powerful than those of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) alone.

Dr Tim’s Amazon Camu Camu can keep your immune system in optimal condition during cold and flu season. Camu Camu is one of the most potent natural sources for vitamin C. While there is no evidence that vitamin C prevents the common cold, a published summary of research studies suggests that vitamin C may have a modest effect on shortening the duration or lessening the severity of a cold if it is consumed before the onset of illness.

Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid and is a water-soluble vitamin. Unlike most mammals, humans do not have the ability to make their own vitamin C. Therefore, we must obtain vitamin C through our diet.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant in its own right. During cold and flu season remember to maintain your vitamin C consumption and understand that it is best to increase your intake of vitamin C. Unlike some vitamins, vitamin C cannot be stored by the body; so, it is important to replenish regularly to stay healthy and avoid the flu this season. Just one tablespoon provides up to 400% of your daily vitamin C requirement. The vitamin C found in Camu Camu is a full spectrum Vitamin C that is readily absorbed by the body. This is important information as we stare down the barrel of the impending H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic.

There’s over a hundred million frequent drinkers in the US, and many estimates are suggesting that nearly ten million of them could very well be considered alcoholics. Meaning that roughly 10% of drinkers has a problem with alcohol. Regardless if it is due to peer pressures or actual physical reliance, it can be very hard to quit, but year after year many people make that decisions and begin the alcohol detox process.

Alcohol detox is the the elimination of alcohol from your body together with the management of the very likely withdrawal symptoms and signs. This detoxification process doesn’t necessarily take away the cravings for alcohol, nor does it immediately end the physical dependency which could have came about over long-lasting use, but it surely will get you pointed in the best direction of being sober and remain that way.

Substance dependency, such as alcoholism, is seen as a recurring disorder, and extended abuse leads to physical changes. In other words, the body changes so much that it becomes absolutely reliant on the substances in order to sustain proper systemic function. This type of physiological change is one of the reasons why lots of people usually relapse. Despite the span of time they’ve been alcohol free, the nature of these kinds of addiction implies that they have to always be ready to continually decide to stay clear of alcohol consumption in the future. Any time you take the steps for alcohol detox your system is going to have a chance to rid itself of the chemicals and resume normal metabolic functions.

This is not generally going to be a simple process. When you get rid of something which your system has a dependency on it is going to go into something termed withdrawal. This is the length of time where the person’s body is attempting to restore and remedy its regular functions and yes it won’t be enjoyable.

If someone hasn’t been abusing alcohol for an extended stretch of time, the withdrawal symptoms could be somewhat mild. However, if the individual has been taking in harmful amounts for several years, there may be a good likelihood that she / he likely will undergo some strong symptoms subsequently after the alcohol detox process has begun.

Many of these symptoms range from the sweats, queasiness, throwing up, tremors, fatigue, nervousness, and possible convulsions and seizures. If you are making an attempt to undergo alcohol detox alone, any of these symptoms usually are too much to handle. Because of this most individuals look to various medically supervised programs for detoxification. If you are closely watched by a medical expert, they can prescribe some medications that will help lessen these symptoms.

Certainly, these prescription drugs are not the only strategy to get through these trying times. There are several support groups which can offer you the encouragement and determination needed to face each one of these symptoms and proceed to your next part of the treatment.

Just remember, alcohol detox is usually a critical first step to beat addiction however it is certainly not the last. Once you have gotten the alcohol out of your system and beaten the withdrawal symptoms you will want to move on to the next phase, which is the ongoing efforts to be alcohol free by means of counseling, support, and continuous perseverance to be sober.

Barry focuses on drug and alcohol detox strategies which are personalized to fit the desire of the individual seeking help. For more guidance about alcohol treatment programs look for information online.

DUI means driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. It is sometimes also termed as DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) and OUI. If you test at a .08% blood alcohol level or above it is used as evidence of a DUI and that is illegal in all states.

A DUI sounds pretty open and closed doesn’t it…Driving Under the Influence. Pretty obvious and straight forward, right?

Let’s look into this seemingly obvious definition in more detail to illustrate some possible areas where an astute lawyer can attack a DUI charge.

Driving Requirement

The requirement of operating or driving suggests that the driver of the vehicle must have some sort of control or command of the vehicle. Innocence or guilt may hang on whether the defendant was actually “driving” in a given circumstance. What if she or he was just sitting behind the wheel of a car but it was off? What if the defendant was napping there? What if the keys were in their pocket and not in the ignition? What if that vehicle was out of fuel and could not be started even if he or she wanted? What if it was idling? What if it was in the process of being towed? Courts nationwide have considered various scenarios to ascertain whether the necessary control over the vehicle was present and the outcomes vary state to state and by the individual circumstances. Vehicle Requirement Cars, trucks and vans are obviously considered to be vehicles for drunk-driving law purposes. However, many have been convicted of drunk driving while operating motorboats, mopeds, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, electric wheelchairs, golf carts, bicycles and ATVs, although the types of vehicles considered differ in each state. Intoxication One way prosecutors take a shot at trying toprove driver intoxication is through lab analysis of the amount of alcohol in ones body, usually by analyzing the breath or blood. These tests are usually administered by a machine, such as the Breathalyzer. In every state, a person with a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) over .08 is considered in accordance with the lawintoxicated.

Implied-consent laws create the legal presumption that if a person takes advantage of the privilege of operating a vehicle, he or she automatically consents to a chemical testing to determine his or her blood-alcohol content. If a driver refuses to take a chemical-alcohol test, his or her license may be revoked or suspended.

Blood-alcohol concentration test results over the legal limit are usually presumed to be proof of intoxication. However, defendants may challenge the conclusiveness of the results by showing irregularities in the test administration or problems with the test equipment. Your lawyer may advise retesting of the defendant’s breath sample. She or he may be able to obtain exclusion of the original breath test results from the case or even dismissal of the case.

Other types of evidence that can be used by prosecuting attorneys to show intoxication include drivers’ statements, witness and police observations of behavior of driving patterns and circumstantial evidence. An example of appropriate circumstantial evidence is that a defendant, before driving, spent the afternoon at a party where drinking games were played.

Police also gather important evidence of drunkenness by administering standard field sobriety tests at the scenes of traffic stops. Common field sobriety tests include:

* Finger-to-nose test

* One-legged stand

* Walk-and-turn test

* Horizontal-gaze-nystagmus test

* Picking up coins

* Counting backwards

* Reciting the alphabet

* Throwing and/or catching a ball

Conclusion

Driving is the basis of the American way of life, permeating every activity we do. We dependon driving to get to work, to associate with friends, to run errands and to vacation. Licensed drivers commute children, people with physical challenges and senior citizens to important appointments and activities. A driving while drinking conviction can bring a screeching halt to your life. If you face a plausible problem with drinking while driving, a lawyer can stand up for you and help defend your interests and those of your family.

An alcohol addiction itself is rarely the instigator for an addict to be admitted into a detox centre. It is the intrusive and often alarming effect it can have on their personal life, family life and overall well-being.

Often, the time before an alcoholic is admitted into a centre, they and their family are overwhelmed by the addicts condition and are no longer sure where to turn. When the patient is admitted into a centre, it is the usually the first port of call and the action is accompanied often with a feeling of relief that at last, something is being done to address the problem. It can even be a crisis admittance in some cases where the patient and/or his family just couldn’t cope with the condition a moment longer.

There are a number of detox centres available for the alcoholic to be admitted to and certainly, there are some better than others. A quality centre would have al of the necessary facilities with which to screen the patient and actually make him feel like a patient as opposed to a prisoner. A centre worthy of any positive reputation would ensure that the alcoholic not only completes the detox program but receives the necessary follow-up treatment. They would offer their support and try as best as they can to ensure that support is offered outside of the centre also i.e. from the family.

Many counsellors in any form of rehab centre are former addicts themselves and can relate to many of the issues of the patient. It is advisable to seek out a centre with counsellors with the right accreditation, as well as the centre itself which should certainly be registered with the appropriate body/ies.

A detox centre worth their salt will offer group counselling involving family and friends. Addiction is often regarded as a family disease and the effects of alcoholism do not lie solely with the alcoholic. There needs to be a restoration of harmony within the entire family for rehab to be successful.

Alcohol and alcohol problems can destroy lives, terminate relationships, create employment issues, and even end in criminal charges. Many times, repeat DUI offenders are also alcoholics, and will continue to drive after drinking until there is an intervention from outside the court system. For this and the following reasons, it is important to tell your DUI attorney if you’re an alcoholic.

1) Trust/Credibility.

Telling your DUI attorney from the outset a fact that is not easy to admit will provide instant trust to your lawyer-client relationship. Your DUI attorney is one of several people that can provide you immediate assistance after you are charged with DUI. You want to get off on the right foot, and you always want to be honest with your attorney. This gives you the best opportunity to create a strategy for your defense and your life.

2) Sentencing Alternatives.

Most states offer alternative sentences for DUI charges than fines or incarceration. These types of sentences can vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, and generally include diversion programs, substance abuse education, driving education, and other eye-opening experiences intended to help those who have been charged with DUI. By letting your attorney know that you are open to these programs because you think they may help, you are also widening your options when you go to court for sentencing.

3) Help.

A good DUI lawyer will have experience with various programs and contacts, which can be of assistance to his or her DUI clients. By letting the attorney know that you are an alcoholic, he or she can tap into those resources and contacts to get you the help that you need to move on with your life and ensure that you don’t become another repeat offender. But even more than that, these resources can also help you with your issues outside of your DUI charge.

4) It Could Save Your Life.

More than anything, your DUI attorney has the proverbial keys to your life (pun intended). Continually driving under the influence of alcohol not only endangers the lives of other innocent strangers and friends, it also endangers your own life. For that reason alone, if you have a problem, you need to tell your DUI attorney who can provide solutions where needed.

Admitting to your DUI attorney that you are an alcoholic is just one step in the process, albeit an extremely important one; therefore, you should have this conversation as early on as possible. You will then have taken one step towards creating a strategy for defending your case. Once that hurdle is out of the way, you still need to deal with the court case and the administrative hearing associated with a DUI charge.

DUI laws vary from state to state, and you should consult with an attorney if you receive a DUI citation. If you are in need of help for a DUI in Maryland or DC, contact a Maryland DUI attorney or DC DUI attorney.
